In the USA, which has started off as the gendarmerie of the world, this time it is on the agenda with the presidential elections to be held on November 3, election campaigns and discussions. The US elections have become one of the important agendas of almost all countries due to a great struggle for hegemony. On the one hand, the calculations and expectations of other rival imperialist powers, “with whom we will compete with this period”; On the other hand, the colonial, semi-colonial and dependent countries do not fall from their agenda on the basis of expectations and concerns about how they will be oppressed in the next period, what sanctions they will be exposed to, or what roles and missions they will be assigned to in the next period.
On the other part, these elections are on the agenda of the workers and the oppressed nations living all over the world. This agenda is of course due to the approach to what the new attack waves will be, rather than high expectations. Because the victims of every new attack and every new war are workers and laborers, women and children, oppressed nations. In this sense, many people, institutions and parties interpret the size of the attack wave or its lightness by looking at whether the person to be elected is on the left or right. Just as black people had high expectations when Obama was elected. Of course, it should be underlined that many organizations that call themselves revolutionary or communist also have orientations that strengthen this expectation.
Another segment that closely follows and finances these elections and ponder over candidates is of course the monopoly bourgeoisie. Almost all imperialist monopolies, from oil companies to arms monopolies, from construction to the pharmaceutical industry, are looking forward to the results of this election. Especially for the weapon, medicine and construction monopolies, it is very important for the person to adopt aggressive policies and to open new occupations or war zones for a blessing and support. Because these groups are the first-degree winners of every confusion and attack.
One of the important discussions of this period is whether the elections to be held will be fair or not. This period Trump’s “We will see what happens. You know, I’ve been complaining about the votes (votes cast by mail) for a long time. These votes are a real disaster. We want to get rid of these. Then it will be a peaceful era. Otherwise, it will not be transferred, it will continue. These votes are out of control. Democrats know this better than anyone ” discourse both blazed debates about whether the elections would be fair or not, and caused discussions on whether Trump would leave the seat if he lost.
Before the American elections, the candidates go on television and have a mutual discussion. Both debates held this year were problematic and showed the true face of bourgeois politics, with Trump’s constant interruption of his opponent in the classic spoiled child pose, his aggressive and “disrespectful” attitude in the first debate, and it was debated for days.
In the second television debate, this time the presenter had the person’s turn off to speak so that they would not interrupt each other. The punishment of the representatives of the great, sacred democracy like children brought other arguments. Telling Biden his promises in these discussions, Trump said, “These politicians are always talking, zero action. Why didn’t you then? “You had eight years to bring them to life” was recorded as an important detail that does not go unnoticed. Yes, it is one of the foundations of bourgeois politics that we are not unfamiliar with that politicians who made pre-election promises forget these promises after the election and deny what they said yesterday. Hence, in order to get to know the bourgeois politicians better, it will be sufficient to look at what they said about each other in their election campaigns. Because they do research to checkmate each other to the finest detail and reveal all their filth. So, if we put it in that famous word, everything they say about each other is true.
Democrat Biden or Republican Trump?
Could Biden be the alternative of Trump, who has received serious reactions with his attitudes and behaviors, statements and policies that resemble a schizophrenic? Actually, the answer to this question is quite clear from our point of view. Both are enemies of the people and cannot be alternatives. Both are representatives of imperialist monopolies and are hostile to oppressed peoples and nations for their interests. It is socialism and communism that the representatives of the alternative proletariat will establish. However, it should be said that some revolutionary organizations, especially from the USA, are quite confused on this issue. Just like many organizations in our country, they try to channel the masses into the system by misleading the masses of the people, acting with the logic of “Everything will be fine if Trump goes away”. The state of the RCP-USA, Bob Avakian line on this subject is a complete misery. There has been a clear call for voting for Biden against Trump. However, those who support Biden and his party should support the just and legitimate revolt of the American people and lead it and target the system from the ground up. While calling for non-violent actions in the call for elections, the danger of fascism is highlighted with Trump. Calling the masses to anchor themselves in peaceful actions against the danger of fascism, anchoring in the sitting on Biden’s tail in elections can only be the paradox and inconsistency of a class collaborative understanding.
Trump, who has been applying intensive aggression policies against workers and laborers since the day he was elected, continues to oppress the peoples of the world with the same aggression in foreign policy. Trump, who was exposed in many ways, including the impeachment inquiry opened against a US president for the first time, especially his aggressive attitude towards the activists who occupied the streets for weeks after a policeman slaughtered George Floyd, his frivolous and manipulative statements during the pandemic process, he is the target of criticism because of many issues.
On the other hand, the bloodsucker imperialist attitude of Biden is tried to be hidden under the “democratic”, “moderate” appearance. Biden, who has been in politics for many years, has taken back his statements many times and has determined a policy according to the course of time, process and developments. For example, Biden, who supported the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, later changed this attitude. The reason for this is, of course, the serious opposition and reactions that developed in the domestic public opinion against this occupation at that time. Again, it should not be forgotten that Biden, who criticized Trump for the inhumane practice called “cage” that separates immigrant children from their families, initiated this application during the period when he was the deputy of Obama, and it was his signature.
Trump and Biden agree on issues, and in essence, they do not criticize each other very harshly in enacting new attack laws against workers and laborers, tougher security measures, etc.. This shows us that it does not change anything if their party has Republican or Democratic names, Trump or Biden. There is monopoly capital behind both candidates, as we tried to put forward at the beginning. In this sense, both are obliged to protect their interests and develop them further. In the conflict between the two cliques, what happens will be the worker and the working people. So instead of discussing Trump and Biden, it must be decisive to discuss how to strengthen the liberation struggle of the proletariat and oppressed working groups, the struggle along the anti-imperialist line and take steps towards this.
